- Excerpts
- By default Porter will put the first little bit of the post as the excerpt (the text showing ON the panel under the post title). However you may want different text there, so under Screen Options in the post screen, toggle the "Excerpts" tab, and add your custom excerpt there.
- If you hover over the images inside of each post, you'll see a "Pinit" button magically appear over the images allowing your visitors to instantly pin single images across to Pinterest. The description of the pin, is taken from the ALT text of the image. The link is going to link to the single page post.
- Social Counter
- Porter has a social counting system that calculates the total number of shares from Twitter and Facebook. On this demo, data is being taken from pagelines.com, which is why you see 525 on every post. Normally, this would reflect per post shares. You must have Open Graph meta properties added to your site in order to count the Facebook shares. Yoast SEO plugin does this automatically.
- Featured Images
- Each post has a full width image. This is set as the posts featured image. Recommended size is 1400x300. It's also recommended for your featured image to have a slight gaussian blur applied, as it's more decorative than anything else.
- Click Protect
- Simply toggle a box within the settings and your images will be protected against right-click saving.
This is a post with a lot of images inserted. It’s highly recommended to install the free Lazy Loader plugin from the PageLines store. This will make your stuff load faster.
See how when you insert images it automatically adds a “Pinit” button on hover? Super awesome and cool, but you can disable it if you want.
Wow so this is the post, and you can have awesome stuff in it like images and things. The big featured image is using the, you guessed it, featured image component in the post screen. The ones used are like 1400 x 400.
